TiVo Connection Types
- Ethernet + MoCA: TiVo 4 tuner or 6 tuner is connected directly to a router; Originating MoCA signal
- MoCA Connection: MoCA client; not originating MoCA signal, but using it; not connected to a router
- Ethernet Connection: 2 Tuner TiVo will always say Ethernet Connection
- 2 Tuner TiVos don't understand the MoCA signal, but the ECB (Ethernet to Coax Bridge) does
- The ECB is used to connect TiVo to Internet services when the TiVo is not directly connected to the router
- The ECB is used to connect TiVo to Internet services when the TiVo is not directly connected to the router
- The 2 tuner TiVo detects the Ethernet connection to the ECB
- The ECB is always configured for MoCA, the 2 Tuner TiVo just needs Ethernet turned on
- 2 Tuner TiVos don't understand the MoCA signal, but the ECB (Ethernet to Coax Bridge) does
Resolution Steps
TiVo 4 Tuner Originates MoCA
- Ensure the TiVo is connected to the router via Ethernet cable, review MoCA diagrams if needed
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network
(see steps)
- If your TiVo connection Type (see above) is correct, no further action is needed
- If incorrect, go to Change Network Settings
- If incorrect, go to Change Network Settings
- Select Modify Ethernet Settings
- For IP Address Settings, choose Get Automatically from a DHCP Server (typical)
- If you get a DHCP Client IDscreen, choose No
- The TiVo takes a moment to configure the network settings, then displays Your TiVo Box will begin using your new network settings
- Press Select to continue
- Press Select to continue
- Back on the Network Settings page, select Change Network Settings
- Select Connect Using MoCA
- Select Yes, Turn on MoCA, choose the following
- MoCA Enabled : Yes
- MoCA Channel: Auto
- Encryption Key: None
- MoCA Enabled : Yes
- Select Use these Settings
- For IP Address Settings, choose Get Automatically from a DHCP Server (typical)
- The TiVo takes a moment to configure the network settings, then displays Your TiVo Box will begin using your new network settings
- Press Select to continue
TiVo 4 Tuner or TiVo Single Tuner as a MoCA Client
- Ensure the TiVo is not connected to the router via Ethernet cable, review MoCA diagrams if needed
- Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network

- If your TiVo connection Type (see above) is correct, no further action is needed
- If incorrect, go to Change Network Settings
- If incorrect, go to Change Network Settings
- Select Connect Using MoCA
- Select Yes, Turn on MoCA, choose the following
- MoCA Enabled : Yes
- MoCA Channel: Auto
- Encryption Key: None
- MoCA Enabled : Yes
- Select Use these Settings
- For IP Address Settings, choose Get Automatically from a DHCP Server (typical)
- The TiVo takes a moment to configure the network settings, then displays Your TiVo Box will begin using your new network settings
- Press Select to continue
TiVo 6 Tuner Originates MoCA
- Ensure the TiVo is connected to the router via Ethernet cable, review MoCA diagrams if needed

- Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Network Settings

- Your TiVo connection Type is listed right in the Change Network Settings line
- If your TiVo connection Type (see above) is correct, no further action is needed
- If incorrect, select Change Network Settings
- If your TiVo connection Type (see above) is correct, no further action is needed
- Your Ethernet Setting is listed right in the Modify Ethernet Settings line
- If your Ethernet Setting is set to (ON), no further action is needed
- If incorrect, select Modify Ethernet Settings
- If your Ethernet Setting is set to (ON), no further action is needed
- Turn Ethernet connection on
- For IP Address Settings, choose Get Automatically from a DHCP Server (typical)
- If you get a DHCP Client ID screen, choose No
- The TiVo takes a moment to configure the network settings, then displays IP Address Setup Complete, select OK
- Back on the Network Settings page, select Change Network Settings
- Select Connect Using MoCA
- Select Set up as Bridge and use these settings:
- MoCA Channel Settings: Auto
- MoCA Encryption: No Encryption
- MoCA Channel Settings: Auto
- Select Use these Settings
- For IP Address Settings, choose Get Automatically from a DHCP Server (typical)
- The TiVo takes a moment to configure the network settings, then displays IP Address Setup Complete, select OK
TiVo Mini, single Tuner, or TiVo 6 Tuner a MoCA Client
- Ensure the TiVo is not connected to the router via Ethernet cable, review MoCA diagrams if needed

- Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Network Settings

- Your TiVo connection Type is listed right in the Change Network Settings line

- If you get a DHCP Client ID screen, choose No
- The TiVo takes a moment to configure the network settings, then displays IP Address Setup Complete, select OK
Internal Information
Please note: If you get an error when setting up the network, you will need to Troubleshoot TiVo Network
Be aware that some All In One devices can also originate MoCA. You can turn this ability On in Merlin, but you must make sure that the Host TiVo is not originating MoCA, and just a client. Otherwise, the devices will compete with each other and the MoCA connection will not work correctly.
