Resolution Steps

DVRs may exhibit a slight broadcasting delay from other converters in the house

  • Incoming signals are temporarily encoded and copied to the DVR hard drive before the picture is viewed

    • This is called buffering, which allows customers the ability to stop, pause, rewind and fast forward live television

  • The picture does not appear on the TV until buffering is complete; usually only a few seconds worth of air time
