Resolution Steps

 Wireless Setup for the First Time

Connect wirelessly to the internet (no MoCA) with a Wireless G Adapter

    1. Make sure the Wireless G adapter is open so that it forms an L shape (90 degree angle) 
       
    2. Insert one end of the USB cable into the Mini USB port on the adapter and the other end into a USB port on the back of the TiVo
       
    3. Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network and see the Network connection details reads No Connection
       
    4. Select Change Network Settings to set up a network on a new router 
       
    5. On the Change Network Settings page, choose Connect Using Wireless G Adapter and press Select on the remote
       
    6. On the Wireless Network Name screen, highlight the correct Network name (SSID) and press Select on the remote
       
      • If you can't find the correct SSID, choose Enter Network Name and press Select on the remote to manually enter the SSID

        Quick Tips
         
        Add a Space select (SPC) at the top of the screen
        Capital Letters select (ABC) at the top of the screen or use the Thumbs Up on the remote
        Special Characters select (SYM) at the top of the screen
        Delete a Character use the Rewind key(◄◄) on the remote

  1. On the Enter Network Password screen, enter the correct password using the Quick Tips above, then highlight Done and press Select on the remote
     
    • When finished, highlight Done entering network password and press Select 
       
  2. The TiVo detects the Wireless G Adapter and displays the IP Address screen
     
    • Select Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
       
    • Select No (or not sure) for the DHCP Client ID

      Note
      : if Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical) is not displayed, power cycle the Adapter and repeat steps 3 through 7

 

 Wireless Setup: Change Existing Connection

    1. Make sure the Wireless G adapter is open so that it forms an L shape (90 degree angle) 
       
    2. Insert one end of the USB cable into the Mini USB port on the adapter and the other end into a USB port on the back of the TiVo
       
    3. Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network and see the Type listed as Wireless Adapter
       
    4. Select Change Network Settings to set up a network with a new router or to reset the network connection
       
    5. On the Change Network Settings page, choose Connect Using Wireless G Adapter and press Select on the remote
       
    6. On the Wireless Network Name screen, highlight the correct Network Name (SSID) and press Select on the remote
       
      • If you can't find the correct SSID, choose Enter Network Name and press Select on the remote to manually enter the SSID

 Wired Setup: Using an Ethernet Cord to Connect a TiVo to the Internet

  1. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to an Ethernet port on the router and connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the TiVo
     
  2. For 4 Tuners, 2 Tuners, Single Tuners, and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
    ​​​​​​​
      • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Network and select Change Network Settings  

      • Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the Network Settings

      • The TiVo detects an Ethernet connection and displays the IP Address screen

    • Select Get Automatically from a DHCP server (typical)

  3. For 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
     
      • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Network Settings and select Change Network Settings  ​​​​​​​

      • Select Change Network Settings

      • Make sure Ethernet is On and MoCA is Off

    • Select IP Address and select Get automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
       
  4. 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4
     
      • Go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings  | Network Settings

      • Select Change Network Settings

      • Make sure Ethernet is On and MoCA is Off

    • Select IP Address and select Get automatically from a DHCP server (typical)
