Introduction

YouTube is a video sharing website where you can watch, upload and share videos

• YouTube videos are not stored on the TiVo, and don't take up any recording space
  
  
• Due to formatting and file type, some videos available on YouTube's website may not available on TiVo
  
  
• If you are experiencing issues with the YouTube app, visit the YouTube website for assistance
  
  
• YouTube on TiVo available in HDUI menus only

Resolution Steps

Accessing the YouTube App

• 4 Tuners, 2 Tuners, Single Tuners, and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
  • Go to TiVo Central  | Apps & OnDemand | YouTube
     
• 4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4
  • Go to TiVo Home | Apps | YouTube
     
• IPTV
  • Go to TiVo Home | Apps | YouTube

• YouTube is open to everyone without a sign on; signing in to your personal profile gives you access to your playlist(s), subscriptions, and other settings you may have
   
• Signing In using the TiVo Remote
   
  • Arrow left for the Main Menu
     
  • Arrow down, then press Select on Sign In
     
  • Note of  the activation code on the screen
     
  • On a computer or mobile device, go to youtube.com/activate and enter the activation code
     
  • You will be prompted for your Google profile username and password
     
  • You must allow YouTube to manage your YouTube account and Manage your rental and purchase history. Click Allow
     

Signing Out using the Remote:
 

• Arrow left for the Main Menu
   
• Arrow down, then press Select on your user name
   
• Scroll to Use YouTube signed out and press Select

 

Pairing a Mobile Device to the YouTube App

1. Sign In using the steps above 
    
2. Arrow left for the Main Menu, then arrow down and press Select on Settings
    
3. Select Link TV and Phone | Link with TV Code to pair your device and go to youtube.com/pair and enter the Pairing Code
    
   • For a Mobile Device, open the YouTube app, press this icon and select the TiVo to pair (no Pairing Code needed)

 

Video Playback and Exiting the App

1. Highlight a video using the left and right arrows on the TiVo remote, then press Select to watch
    
2. Pause, Rewind and Fast Forward YouTube videos, just like any other video
    
3. To exit and return to the video list, press the Back button on the TiVo remote. If no back button, press the Replay key
    
4. To exit the YouTube app, press the TiVo button or Live TV at any time

 

Hiding Inappropriate Content

• We do not control YouTube content
   
• Select Restricted Mode in the YouTube Settings menu to help hide inappropriate content
   
  • 4 Tuners, 2 Tuners, Single Tuners, and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
     
    • Go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Channels | Add & Manage Video App
       
    • Uncheck YouTube to hide the app
      
       
    4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4
     
    • Go to TiVo Home | User Preferences | Add & Manage Apps
       
    • Uncheck YouTube to hide the app

 

Disabling YouTube - IPTV

This app is factory pre-installed and cannot be uninstalled. However, it can be disabled

1. Go to TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Device Settings | Apps | See all apps
    
2. Select YouTube
    
3. Select Disable
    
4. You will be asked "Do you want to Disable this app?" Select Yes
    
5. The app will be listed under the Disabled apps list
