Merlin - Modem Manufacturer/Lease Discrepancy- Article no. 3788

Introduction

• The DHCP lease information area in Merlin does not tell you the modem model, but rather the Ethernet OEM based on the first 6 characters of the MAC address
   
• Because Arris recently bought out some Motorola Corporation assets, identifiers that once appeared as Motorola now show Arris
   
• Similarly, Belkin Corporation recently bought the Linksys brand and product portfolio
  
  • For example, Linksys EA2700 routers appear as Belkin now
     
• The manufacturer listed in the DHCP lease and Modem Information section is usually a match outside of these exceptions
