International Calling Plans, Usage and Instructions-5092

Introduction

Authenticate two (2) Security Questions OR the CPNI PIN and one (1) security question before discussing or changing any applicable CPNI and PII-protected information; customers cannot opt-out of CPNI verification

Usage and Restrictions
    • By default, customers are billed per minute for International calls unless they subscribe to an add-on International calling plan
       
    • Must have long distance to subscribe to international calling

    • International Directory Assistance is not available; customers may try an operator assisted International call using the home country operator to lookup and connect the number

    • Per minute use is rounded up on a per call basis at billing

  • Unbilled usage in BOLT/ICOMS shows actual call length
     
      • Example: a call length of 2:10 is billed for 3 minutes at billing
  • Global Saver Plan in DC Metro, IL, MA, NY and PA:
     
    • Customers should keep track of the minutes they use to ensure they receive the best possible value
       
    • To keep track their International minutes usage online in Selfcare, some International calls may take 2-3 days to appear online
       
    • Unused monthly usage minutes cannot be rolled into the next month

  • From Order Entry, choose Service Change [UD] with work order type Internal Order

  • On the Telephony Services [TE] screen, highlight the phone number to which you are adding service


  • Schedule in Office Only quota and Complete the order

      • For most countries, except those below, use this format: 011 + Country Code + City Code + Phone Number

        • Example: to call Rio de Janeiro, you would dial 011-55-21-XXX-XXXX

      • The country code for Brazil is 55 and city code for Rio de Janeiro is 21

    • To call Canada and most Caribbean countries, the format is the same as making a domestic long distance call:

      • Dial 1 + area code + phone number:

        • American Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada

        • Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guam, Jamaica, Montserrat

    • We cannot add a dollar amount limit or cap on customers' accounts for International Calls, customers must monitor their own International call usage

    • All calls rate to the plan on the account when the bill cycle runs

      • Monthly Usage goes by the Usage Cutoff Date

        • Example: A customer with a bill cycle from the first of the month to the 31st changes their plan adding RCN Global Saver 250 on the 15th

        • All calls for the usage period in the bill cycle will rate under the RCN Global Saver 250

        • Example: A customer with a bill cycle from the first of the month to the 31st changes their plan removing RCN Global Saver 250 on the 15th

        • All calls for the usage period in the bill cycle will rate under standard International rates

      • Note: Per minute use is rounded up on a per call basis at billing

        • Example, a call length of 2:10 is billed for 3 minutes at billing

      • Unbilled usage in BOLT/ICOMS shows actual call length

    • If the customer is experiencing high International call volume, they may want to place an International Block on their line

    • Customers may be unable to complete calls to the following countries as a result of the military conflict in Iraq

    • International phone calls are routed Internationally by another carrier Global Crossing

      • Local and/or long distance phone companies in those locations may not be able to complete calls
      • Every effort is made to provide stable and reliable routes to these destinations, but prolonged military action may result in reduced capacity and/or quality issues

      • May not be able to complete calls to specific countries or regions

    • Maxed-out lines to these countries are also possible due to high call volume
